The Cannon Falls man who was charged with poaching a world-record eight-point buck last fall is now being charged with shooting it out of season.
The Goodhue County Attorney's office filed three additional charges on Wednesday against 32-year-old Troy Alan Reinke: a gross misdemeanor charge for taking big game out of season and two misdemeanor charges for unlawful possession of wild animals. He was already facing 13 misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor charges for poaching the trophy buck as well as two other deer, Assistant Goodhue County Attorney David Grove said.
Reinke originally told Department of Natural Resources conservation officers that he shot the big buck with a bow while hunting on Halloween. But in a second interview with investigators, he said he didn't kill it but found the buck already dead.
Reinke is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
